Dine upstairs, dance downstairs and you’re night is guaranteed to have both a happy beginning AND a happy ending. Nestled behind a nondescript door on the Lower East Side, you’ll find the recently reopened and reimagined Happy Ending. The French Bistro-meets-cool downtown art gallery hot spot, bearing an art deco feel, will delight the night owl.
With successful hangouts Café Select and Rintintin under his belt, restaurateur Oliver Stumm has partnered with gallerist Max Levai, and Teddy Perweiler to bring the Lower East Side this eclectic dining experience. Michelin-starred chef Francis Gabarrus, protégé of Joel Robuchon and French Laundry alum, is in the kitchen and creates a menu with riffs on French comfort food classics. Keep it classic and order a Hemingway Daquiri or spice up the night with a Dr. No. With a total of just 58 seats and a grand piano, you’ll quickly feel like you’ve been welcomed into a friends living room. Mingle with neighboring tables (they’re not far) or patrons at the bar and leave with a rolodex of new, creative acquaintances.
Make it past the doorman and don’t let the night end there. Downstairs, a DJ plays until 4am as trendsetters dance the night away.
